10. Girls Friday: About a year ago exactly, I knit a sweater called Girl Friday. When my mom saw a picture of it, she decided to start one herself. (Can you tell crafting is just like a bad case of Mono we pass back and forth to each other?) Well, her version of Girl Friday proved to be a little problematic, but eventually she worked out all the kinks and ended up with a very beautiful sweater. She finished the edging right before she came to VA, so she used my hallway to block the sweater.

11. Yellow brick road shoes: how freakin’ cute are these little leather flats?! AND what makes them even cuter? The fact that I got them for $10 this weekend at Urban Outfitters. Gotta love that place when they put stuff on sale. The rest of the time I just sort of feel like they’re stealing ideas out of my brain and sending them to China to be produced.

12. Stop and smell the roses: on Friday while Mike was at work, my parents and I visited the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. It never occurred to me that mid-October when the leaves are falling off the trees might not be the perfect time to see exotic foliage blooming, but we still had a good time. And the beautiful rose bushes made up for all the dead sticks and leaves on the ground.

I shared details of my Yellow Brick Road flats at Type A Decorating’s bargains link party.
