Let’s play a game. I give you a word. You say the first thing that comes to mind.
–George Clooney
Weird! George Clooney reminds you of mayonnaise? Hmm. Let’s try again.
–”The Voice” on NBC
I agree! Christina Aguilera’s chest is all I remember too.
–Clip-on earrings
Your grandma? That’s what used to think of too. But really, what should come to mind are all the awesome craft possibilities!
If you’re like me, you haven’t worn clip-ons in your ears since you were 4 and you’re hoping God grants you the dexterity not to have to again until you’re 94. But before you grab your youth and run to take reassuring shelter in your new Facebook timeline, let me tell you this: clip-on earrings don’t have to be worn in your ears!
It was at a vintage booth at a street fair that I first saw their craft potential. A woman was taking clip-on earrings and converting them into studs. I bought some and ripped the studs off altogether.
On a lobe, yeah, they might be a little gaudy. But in the center of a felt flower? Perfection! (Get the tutorial here.)
And how about as some toe candy? Yes please!
Tomorrow, I’ll show you how to use vintage clip-on earring as the centerpiece for a killer hair do-dah. (Here’s a hint—it involves feathers!)

I love this idea! So cute! And I also LOVE those yellow flats! Where did you get them?
Thanks, Lauren! I LOVE those yellow shoes too. I got them at Urban Outfitters at the end of the summer last year for, get this, $10! You can read read more about them here.
