I’m a quantifier. I like to keep tabs on the details of my life—what books I’ve read and when, how many steps I take in a day, how many text messages I send in a month. If I could, I’d track every single thing I do, but then of course, there’d be nothing to track because I wouldn’t be doing anything but keeping notes on what I wasn’t doing. This is a conundrum I’ve carefully considered.

But in the spirit of quantification, here are a few stats about how we spent 2012.

Cross country moves: 1

Different addresses: 3

Houses looked at with Realtor: 44

Offers made: 1

Offers accepted: 0

Houses purchased: 0

Houses built: .5

Babies conceived: 1

Babies delivered: 1

Photos taken: 2481

Cars sold: 2

Cars purchased: 1

States visited: 14

Bee Keeper’s Quilt hexes knit: 86

Roommates lived with: 4 humans, 5 chickens, 1 dog

Books started reading: 12

Books finished reading: 7

And while we were busy with all this, there’s one important stat to note:

Blogs neglected: 1

It feels good to wake up today with a clean slate. Maybe this year, there will be a few more books in the “read” column, a few more houses in the “finished built” category and at least for a while, a complete absence of the the “cross country moves” classification.

And if not? Oh well. My cup runneth over in the “happiness because of wonderful husband and new baby” division, and because of that, I have approximately 13,458,112 units of gratitude.
